ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man is in critical condition after arriving at a North County hospital with stab wounds following a gang fight in Escondido Saturday afternoon, police said.

Escondido Police Dispatch received a 911 call about a group fight in the 300 block of W. El Norte Pkwy in Escondido at 1:42 p.m. Saturday, the Escondido Police Department reported. When officers arrived on the scene, no one was present, according to police.

However, just 15 minutes later, police were notified by Palomar Medical Center that a man had arrived at the emergency room with stab wounds. Police said the man, who has not yet been identified, is in critical condition.

Officers at the hospital were able to determine that the victim’s injuries were related to the mob fight. Police say no one has been arrested and there is no description of the suspect available at this time.

Escondido Police detectives are investigating the possibility that this is a gang-related problem.
