Sept. 25 (UPI) — Four years ago, Thailand broke the record for the world’s largest popcorn machine and Google celebrated the milestone on Wednesday with an interactive Doodle.

The illustration shows three kernels standing on top of an overflowing bucket of popcorn. A stick of butter and a salt shaker are on either side. They appear to be staring at each other.

When viewers click the play button, they are taken to a game.

“Compete against 59 other players and be the last one to explode,” the instructions read.

Players can choose to compete ‘solo’ or in a ‘team’.

The Doodle was created to commemorate the history of popcorn.

This snack was first eaten in the United States in the 19th century as a breakfast cereal.

“The origins of popcorn date back to the early 1500s,” the Doodle description reads. “Because corn was such a widespread crop among Mesoamerican civilizations, many cultures made popcorn and used it to decorate their ceremonial robes.”
