(Reuters) – The U.S. Justice Department is investigating Super Micro Computer, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter, sending shares of the AI server maker plummeting.

Super Micro Computer earlier this month denied allegations in a report from short-seller Hindenburg Research, saying the report contained “false or inaccurate statements” about the server maker.

Hindenburg disclosed in August that he had a short position in Super Micro and alleged “accounting manipulation” at the company, citing evidence of undisclosed related-party transactions and failure to comply with export controls, among other allegations.

Super Micro did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
