Shania Twain Opens People’s Choice Country Awards: Watch

As an intro to “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” barked behind her, the host was lowered from the rafters to join a group of male dancers – but not perform

To be honest, When the People’s Choice Country Awards announced Shania Twain as its 2024 host, they never said the country music pioneer would be performing. But Twain’s opening – choreographed, dramatic and over-the-top – raised our hopes that one would happen.

As a synth intro to Twain’s signature hit, “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” sounded like a clarion call, the singer in the silhouette of a heart was lowered from the rafters of Nashville’s Opry House to join a group of ten male dancers in matching Western attire. Twain dazzled in a white fringed outfit, topped off by an equally stunning cowboy hat. As she left her spot, she said, “Let’s do this!” – and then proceeded to do a little dance, ending with a spin while “Man!” kept playing.

It was good fun, but it also left us (and by the look on his face, Machine Gun Kelly) wanting more. After the mega-tease, Twain got to work on what she was hired to do: host an awards ceremony.

Twain has been on the road for most of the summer, along with continuing her Las Vegas engagement – Come on Over – The Las Vegas Residency – at Planet Hollywood on the Strip. In July, she performed at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival in the “legends slot,” opening with “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and playing through staples like “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!”, “Any Man of Mine,” and “Honey, I’m home.” She saved the most euphoric hit for the end and closed with “Man! I feel like a woman!” Twain’s Vegas residency runs through 2025.
