The Dallas Cowboys suffered some bad luck on Thursday when they faced the New York Giants.

Late in the fourth quarter, star linebacker Micah Parsons went off the field in obvious pain. He was then helped off the field by trainers before being wheeled to the locker room with his shoe removed from his left foot.

Parsons also left the game in the second quarter with one neck injury and spent time in the injury tent, although he managed to return shortly afterwards.

Before the injury, Parsons had a pair of tackles and one tackle for loss. Through the first three games of the season, the fourth-year player has totaled 12 tackles, a sack and a pass deflected.

Parsons is coming off the best season of his career a year ago, recording 64 tackles, a career-high 14 sacks and a forced fumble on his way to being named a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year.

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Parsons has remained one of the best edge rushers in football, with 13 or more sacks in each of his first three seasons. Should the star miss time due to Thursday’s injury, it would be a huge blow to the Cowboys’ pass rush defense.

Although Parsons’ injury was an unfortunate outcome of Thursday’s game, Dallas took a step in the right direction with a win over the Giants. The Cowboys won their first game of the year against the Cleveland Browns, but suffered a blowout against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2 before dropping last week’s game to the Baltimore Ravens.

The good news is that Parsons has more than a week to rest and recover, and the Cowboys hope to have him back on the field next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
