Aubrey Plaza stars as a corrupt journalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s latest film, and according to the actress, she watched “a lot” of Fox News to prepare and get into the character’s headspace.

The suggestion started as a joke on Tuesday night’s episode of “The Daily Show,” where Plaza was a guest. Discussing the film and setting up Plaza’s character, host Desi Lydic wondered “how many images of Tucker Carlson did you have to watch” to channel a morally corrupt journalist.

And while Plaza didn’t mention anyone by name, the actress laughed and admitted she used Carlson’s former network as inspiration.

“I mean, I actually, in all seriousness, watched a lot of Fox News,” Plaza responded. “To study, yes. To investigate my role as a corrupt journalist. I did!”

That’s why Lydic wondered how high Plaza’s therapy bills are as a result.

“High,” Plaza deadpanned. “Very high, yes.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, the “Agatha All Along” star noted that Coppola called her by her character name on set — Wow Platinum — and still does, which helped her get into the character.

“Just start spreading conspiracy theories like that Megyn Kelly over there,” Lydic joked.

“Megalopolis” hits theaters on Friday, September 27.
