Netflix’s Best New Show Has a Nearly Perfect Critic Score of 95%

Vaseline 1 month ago

Netflix has been doing well with its movie offerings lately, and now we have a great new TV show to add to the mix that’s scoring impressive critical acclaim.

The show is called Nobody Wants This, which would make for a funny title if the show bombed, but instead it’s doing great with a 95% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes and an equally solid audience score of 84%.

The ten-episode, 30-minute series features a stellar cast led by The Good Place’s Kristen Bell and The OC’s Adam Brody (sorry, I’ll always know him from The OC, even if it was twenty years ago). It also features the likes of Veep’s Timothy Simmons (Jonah!) and Succession’s Justine Lupe (Willa!). Great line up.

The show was created by Erin Foster, an actress turned showrunner whose performance here is great, it seems. The show is described as “semi-autobiographical. Here’s the official synopsis of the comedy:

“Nobody Wants This centers on the unlikely relationship between an outspoken, agnostic woman, Joanne (Golden Globe nominee Kristen Bell), and an unconventional rabbi, Noah (SAG nominee Adam Brody). From the moment they meet at a friend’s dinner party, they can both tell there is something between them. But also potentially between them are their different views on life, all the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families – including her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons).

The show debuted at No. 2 on the Netflix Top 10 list, but it’s unclear whether it will reach No. 1 with the relative popularity of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, given how big Ryan Murphy’s previous killer outing, Dahmer , wash. turned out to be in service. It was the third most-watched English series ever on Netflix, and if this successor gets even a fraction of that, it might stay at the top for a while.

No One Wants This will be the opposite in subject and tone, perhaps a refreshing change of pace if you so choose did just want the Menendez story. Or the Mr. McMahon documentary about the fallen-from-favor WWE owner. Or the really bad Ellen DeGeneres special. Really, it’s the best show on the list right now, that much is clear. Time to check it out and see if it lives up to these scores.
