The two actors spoke candidly with The Associated Press about this phase of their careers. This interview has been abbreviated for clarity and brevity.

You’ve both had popular, zeitgeisty TV shows in recent years. TV fans are especially passionate. Have you had any interesting interactions with fans?

HEWSON: It’s actually a lot of fun to experience because even when we were in Cape Cod, there was shooting going on The perfect coupleI went to the local store to get my groceries and little old ladies followed me down the aisle saying, ‘Excuse me. Are you that girl from that one? Sisters show?” Who knew they were watching it? It doesn’t change my life, so it doesn’t bother me, but if someone comes up to me and says they love the show, especially if it’s someone unexpected, then I say : “Oh, cool.”

FAHY: It doesn’t happen that often to me that it feels like a huge burden or something. I feel like I’ve been really lucky. Many of the people I’ve met are fans of it The White Lotusor whatever, they are very nice people. And I think part of the reason why we’re doing this is because we want to tell stories that people can connect with and play out scenarios for themselves. So I always really enjoy it.

What’s it like to be part of conversations now about who to watch?

FAHY: Some of it feels really nice because you’ve been working very, very, very hard for a very, very, very long time – maybe that’s not how it happens for a lot of people – but I feel like we’ve both been doing this for a minute . So of course it feels very good. but I try not to dwell on it. I try to acknowledge it and say, “Oh, that’s so nice.” And then just keep going.

HEWSON: You hear so many stories of people saying, “I walked into my first audition and I just became a star.” Or there’s an element of being an actor where people don’t want to tell you how hard they work. They want it to look like it’s really easy. But we’ve been doing this for a long time. People just don’t really tell those stories. Usually it concerns the person found on the street.

FAHY: Yes. It took 15 years to become an overnight success.

Do you find yourself being treated differently by people in the industry now?

FAHY: Yeah, but I always think that no one will ever know who I am. It’s always very embarrassing. At times like this I embarrass myself. I don’t always feel like I fit in those rooms.

HEWSON: The cool thing is that for so long I’ve gone into a room and people just said, “Okay,” and acted like they just didn’t understand. In any case, I know, just when I have work that people understand, what I do a little more so that they get me as an actor.

FAHY: It’s like another level of respect.
