Top 5 college football games you absolutely must watch on the week 5 schedule

Vaseline 7 days ago

As we get ready for another fun weekend of college football, fans can get excited knowing there are some high-profile games coming up. We’re starting to worry about the schedule now that conference play has started.

But which games are the biggest must-watch games on the schedule? Here at Newsweek Sports, we’ve got your back.

Here are the five biggest games to watch this weekend.

5. No. 3 Ohio State @ Michigan State

On paper, this game shouldn’t be all that exciting, but the Buckeyes could potentially be in for a good game. Michigan State is 3-1 this new year and is coming off a tough loss to Boston College last week. They get top wide receiver Jaron Glover back in this game, adding more explosiveness to their offensive attack. While Ohio State is a heavy favorite entering this game, road games in college football are never easy.

4. No. 8 Oregon @UCLA

This game kicks off at 8:00 PM PT and brings back some late night football. For those familiar with the old Pac-12 After Dark mantra, strange things often happen late at night. The Ducks finally got things rolling in their final game and dominated Oregon State. This game looks like a blowout waiting to happen, but the Bruins could still have some fight left in them. Last week they went toe-to-toe against the LSU Tigers at least half the time. Maybe they can carry that energy for a full game and if they can, this game will be very interesting.

3. No. 15 Louisville @ No. 16 Notre Dame

After losing at home to Northern Illinois a few weeks ago, the Fighting Irish have bounced back with two straight solid performances. Now hosting the Cardinals, Notre Dame can make another statement early in the season. Louisville is 3-0 on the year and beating the Fighting Irish on the road would give them a huge boost to their resume. This game could be a classic in South Bend.

2. No. 20 Oklahoma State @ No. 23 Kansas State

After a crushing loss to Utah last week, Oklahoma State will have a tough matchup against Kansas State. The Wildcats got smoked by BYU themselves and put on an exciting Big 12 matchup this week. Both teams know a win can be huge for conference seeding, giving fans the chance for a back-and-forth matchup. Kansas State likely has the edge in the game, but the Cowboys always seem to find a way to ignore the odds every season.

1. No. 2 Georgia @ No. 4 Alabama

The big matchup of the weekend belongs to the SEC’s two powerhouses. These two always bring the heat when they play together and this time should be no different. Alabama will want to beat Georgia to show they are still the kings of college football. For the first time since 2008, the Crimson Tide are the underdogs at home. This game will have huge implications for College Football Playoff seeding, with both teams poised to make the tournament.
