Kirby Smart is deeply impressed with Alabama’s prodigy

The magic of Ryan Williams has mesmerized everyone; Including Kirby Smart from Georgia.

Although he has long been a rival at his core, Kirby Smart didn’t let his pride get in the way of appreciating a truly prodigious talent from Alabama.

While he knows full well that this talent will be the talent they face in this Saturday’s epic rivalry battle, that’s a concern Smart kept in mind as he praised the standout freshman WR.

“I don’t think there is much fear or nerves for him,” Smart said of Williams before Alabama-Georgia. “He’s not one of those guys where the moment is too big for him. Obviously he jumped right in and made plays in every game.”

“They have a lot of players with really good skills outside the perimeter, and I think Jalen uses his skills well to get them the ball,” Smart concluded, appreciating how the QB and WR get the job done. perfect synchronization.

Kirby Smart believes Williams will restore Alabama’s elite WR reputation

Smart also believed Williams would help restore Alabama’s reputation as having the best of the best WR room.

“He’s on the same page as the guys they’ve had in the past,” Smart said. “Super fast, talented, confident with the ball, great ball skills, great speed.

“He’s a track athlete who was elite as a junior, and then he comes out and is already performing at a high level.”

Mind you, this put Smart Williams in the same circle as DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones – the Bama alumni who are now the top receivers in the NFL.

Since their departure, Bama has lacked that kind of top talent. Williams has a lot of expectations to become that receiver talent from Alabama.

With the WR having already amassed 285 receiving yards and 10 catches with four touchdowns in just three games this season, there are big expectations surrounding him.

As just a 17 year old freshman, will it all be too much to crumble the WR? Or will it be the boost to his wings that will make him fly higher?

The answer will be on full display Saturday evening.
