Playing wet outfield boxes in the 2nd India-Bangladesh Test

KANPUR, India (AP) — The wait for the restart of the second Test between India and Bangladesh continued Sunday as the morning session on day three was lost due to a wet outfield.

Although no rain has fallen since morning showers on Saturday, the sodden outfield continued to pose safety concerns for the players. Bowling areas on both sides of the pitch, as well as the slip cordons and certain close-in and boundary field positions appeared to be a cause for concern for umpires Chris Brown (New Zealand) and Richard Kettleborough (England).

The Green Park stadium ground staff worked throughout the morning session to try and get the pitch ready for later Sunday.

Bangladesh were 107-3 in the first innings, bowling all 35 overs on a rain-shortened first day. Rain and a wet outfield had left day two without a ball bowled.

India won the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs to lead the two-match series.
