Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant took to social media over the weekend with a pair of scary health announcements and a plea for prayers from fans.

Van Zant posted a video to his Facebook account after the band announced it was canceling a handful of shows due to a health issue involving his daughter.

“First of all, I would like to thank you all for saying prayers for my family,” Van Zant said in the video. “I haven’t revealed my daughter’s name because she is very private, but I wanted to get this out there. So I just ask you to say a prayer for my daughter.

Van Zant then revealed that it is in fact his youngest daughter, Taylor.

“A few days ago, Taylor started feeling numb on her right side,” he said. “She went to the emergency room, they did a CAT scan and they found a… the only way to tell was a growth on her brain, and part of it was bleeding. That caused the numbing part.

“In saying this, we’ve had her with a great neurological team and a group of doctors, and they don’t think it’s (cancer),” he added. “So that’s a good thing, but they’re still doing a lot of testing. We are not out of the woods yet, but we are in a lot better shape than we initially thought.”

However, Van Zant revealed that his daughter isn’t the only person he’s asking prayers for.

“And so keep praying for Taylor,” he said. “It means the world to me and my family. I have one more, when it rains, it pours. My bus driver who has been on the road with me for the last few months, our buses went to Anchorage, and our buses went to Utah.

Van Zant said his driver was on a scooter when he crashed.

“He destroyed the scooter and hit his head, and he is in intensive care,” he said. “Brad Gibson, I want to get Brad back on his feet, along with Taylor. He has a lovely family, a young daughter, a wonderful family, and he has been a great driver for us. Good guy, and a very freak accident, if you can say prayers, prayers, prayers for him.

“You know, the Devil will try to get you any way he can if you start spreading his word, but we won’t let him,” he added. “We are going to fight him to the end. All he wants is to cause us trouble and harm us. So think about that, I won’t let it happen.

“I’m going to fight it all the way with Jesus Christ.”
