NFL insider Ian Rapoport shared some news updates ahead of Sunday’s Week 4 game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New England Patriots. While it was already known that wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who is listed as questionable, plans to play, Rapoport revealed that another key player of questionable status – tackle Trent Williams – would likely suit up as well.

Williams had soreness in his toes Friday morning, which kept him from practicing, but indications are he could be ready for the game.

Rapoport also provided an update on the timeline for running back Christian McCaffrey, who is sidelined with Achilles tendonitis. According to Rapoport, McCaffrey could return “at least” in early November.

Rapoport added that McCaffrey’s treatment in Germany last week appeared to have gone well. On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan announced that the 49ers plan to ramp up McCaffrey’s rehabilitation starting Monday.

General manager John Lynch added, “And now Christian is back here, and at some point we’re going to get (him) back,” Lynch said. “We’re going to have to hit certain marks, and we’re going to try to ramp up the disaster. And, God willing, the thing has settled down and we can rebuild it in a very smart and thoughtful way.”
