The Kansas City Chiefs’ struggling passing game appears to have taken a major hit on Sunday.

Sophomore wide receiver Rashee Rice was taken to the locker room after suffering a knee injury in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium.

Rice went down after quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception on a pass intended for Travis Kelce and accidentally dove into Rice’s knee while trying to tackle Chargers defenseman Kristian Fulton.

It was immediately clear that Rice may have suffered a serious injury, and the Chiefs quickly ruled him out after he was carted off the sideline.

Rice has emerged as the top receiving option for Mahomes in the young season, entering Week 4 with a team-high 24 catches with 288 yards and two touchdowns in three games.

No other player on KC’s roster entered Sunday with double-digit receptions.
