How Darrell Luter Jr. keeps his grandmother’s legacy alive

How Darrell Luter Jr. keeps his grandmother’s legacy alive

While Luter Jr. painted roses that symbolized his grandmother’s love and resilience, he shared a longing that resonated deeply in his heart.

“I wish she had a chance to see me play football. She never got a chance to see me play football ever, not even in little league. I wish she could see my daughter. I wish she could meet my wife .” But I know I can’t get those times back. In the meantime, I know she’s looking down on us. So I try to do everything in my power to make her happy, make her proud and put a smile on her face to heaven.”

With every stroke of his paint, Luter Jr. honored his grandmother’s legacy and reflected the strength she instilled in him. The paintings created during the Crucial Catch art therapy event will be turned into custom Levi’s® denim jackets for the players and cancer warriors to wear on the red carpet before this Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

Sunday’s game will be especially special for Luter Jr. as he remembers “Granny Mama Lil” during the league’s Crucial Catch initiative. With every play, every tackle and every moment on the field, he will honor their bond and the lasting impact it has on his life.
