Bethenny Frankel is going biodynamic with her new wine brand

Bethenny Frankel’s entrepreneurial pursuits grew out of her passions, and she now owns a biodynamic wine brand.

Frankel, who initially found fame as one of the original cast of The Real Housewives of New York City and then became an entrepreneur with brands like Skinny Girl cocktails and wine, has delved deep into the world of biodynamic wines with the release of her first French rosé, Forever Young.

“The wine is amazing and made by a woman-owned chateau,” says Frankel. “It’s absolutely delicious.”

Forever Young’s first debut was a Côtes de Provence Rosé made by Chateau Robine.

Her focus on biodynamic wines grew from her own interests. “It’s more natural and healthier,” she says. “There are wines, even organic wines, and they can have a lot of crap in them, and you don’t feel good the next day. There is a drastic difference in quality.”

Frankel says she chose rosé because that’s what she drinks. “I know red wine is more respected, but I don’t drink red wine,” she says. “It feels like you’re drinking syrup, and this is my brand. I only work with what I am passionate about.”

Her next wine is a cru classé rosé. “The cru classé is a type of wine that you can’t make much of, and it’s only made in about 18 wineries in the world,” says Frankel. “It’s a more elite type of rosé.”

Frankel’s Forever Young brand is also adding a Sauvignon Blanc from Pay d’Oc, which is also made by Château Robine.

While Frankel is currently promoting the two rosé wines, its Sauvignon Blanc should hit the market shortly thereafter. “It has a green floral background instead of pink, and it’s great,” says Frankel. “It doesn’t have the distribution of the rosé yet because we are still focused on expanding distribution, and then we will add the Sauvignon Blanc.”

Frankel says she has chosen to focus on the wines she personally enjoys. “I love Sauvignon Blanc, but the rosé is so feminine and it has become a year-round wine,” she says. “There are really a lot of well-selling rosés. They’re really bougie and branded, and they’re good, but they’re not as good as Forever Young. You can put it side by side, and it’s phenomenal.”

In addition to promoting her new wine brand, Frankel is also promoting her non-alcoholic cocktail line Mingle.

“It happened very organically,” Frankel says. “About a year ago, I was in my kitchen with my assistant and we were tasting Mingle, and my assistant said, ‘Wait a minute, this tastes like the real thing.’ That’s what I thought too, and we panicked.”

Frankel promoted Mingle online, and then they contacted her, and she now owns part of that company as well. “It’s immediate,” she says, with companies and products she likes. “You just know you really like it, it touches you, and you go.”

With Mingle, Frankel says she’s most excited that it tastes different than anything else out there. “It doesn’t taste like soda, it tastes like its own thing, something other than kombucha tastes like its own thing,” she says. “It’s great for people who are down to earth curious, and it’s a bit of a choose your own adventure in terms of flavors.”
