Doubleheader game thread between New York Mets and Atlanta Braves, Monday, September 30, 12:10 CT

Vaseline 2 weeks ago

As you know, the Mets and Braves had two games postponed last week in Atlanta due to Hurricane Helene.

Because the games are still significant for positioning in the play-offs, they will be made up this afternoon in Truist Park as a doubleheader.

The situation is simple. If either team scores in the doubleheader, that team and the Diamondbacks will claim the final two wild card spots. When the doubleheader splits, the Braves and Mets are in and the D-backs are out.

You can see how that could lead to shenanigans. Hopefully that won’t be the case.

Here’s the information you need for the two games, which will air on ESPN2, a full national broadcast with no blackouts.

These are regular season games, so there are no special schedules for them. However, each team will receive a 29th man to use for the doubleheader, which will be available for both games.

For the first game, RHP Tylor Megill starts for the Mets and RHP Spencer Schwellenbach gets the call for the Braves. Neither team has announced a starter for Game 2 – that will likely depend on what happens in Game 1.

As mentioned in the headline, the first pitch should take place at 12:10 PM CT.

That should be all you need to keep track of these important matches. As a reminder, I will also have game threads here for every postseason game, starting with the four wild card games on Tuesday.

Enjoy it and discuss it among yourselves.
