Bills WR gets hurt after setting NFL record

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir set an NFL record with his first catch against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.

He was injured on his second catch.

Shakir hauled in an eight-yard pass over the middle and he was brought down by Roquan Smith and David Ojabo in the first quarter. Shakir got up, but sat back down on the court and was assessed by athletic trainers.

Shakir slowly walked off the field and was looked at by trainers on the bench. He had his right ankle taped and jogged along the sidelines in sneakers.

Shakir returned to the game early in the second quarter.

Earlier in the first quarter, Shakir caught the first pass thrown to him by Josh Allen. The reception gave him a catch streak of 28 consecutive targets dating back to last year, passing Michael Thomas’ streak of 27 in 2018, the longest streak in the NFL since the statistic was kept in 1991.
