ALMA, Ark. (KAIT) – A briefing will take place Tuesday on a nearly 30-year-old kidnapping case in Arkansas.

According to a news release, Alma Police Chief Jeff Pointer will hold a briefing on Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. to report “a significant development” in the investigation into the 1995 kidnapping of Morgan Nick.

Nick was last seen on June 9, 1995 at the Alma Little League Ball Field after catching fireflies with other children.

In November 2021, the FBI said Billy Jack Lincks, of Crawford County, was being investigated as a person of interest in the case. He died in prison in 2000 and was arrested for attempting to kidnap a girl months after Nick went missing. Lincks was serving a sentence for sexual indecency with a child.

In April 2021, Alma police released a photo showing a truck with an RV known to have been on the ball field at the time of Nick’s disappearance. In June 2020, a photo of what Nick looked like at age 31 was released by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Nick’s disappearance led to the creation of the Morgan Nick Foundation, with the intention of helping find Nick and other missing children.
